Renault and Dacia radios often use a short precode, usually one letter followed by three digits. This precode is not the final unlock code; it is the input used to generate the four digit security code.
How to unlock it safely
Turn the ignition on, switch the radio to CODE or SAFE mode, press and hold 1 + 6 for a few seconds, note the letter and three digits, then use the calculator. Enter the resulting four digit code using the radio buttons and confirm with 5 or 6.
- Turn the ignition on and power the radio.
- Display or read the precode/serial number.
- Use the correct calculator for that input format.
- Enter the four digit code carefully and confirm it.
Important notes
Use this method for most older Renault, Dacia and some Nissan units. MediaNav, R-Link and newer VIN-paired units may require dealer-level procedures.
When the online method may not work
The calculator method is intended for supported OEM units. It may not work for aftermarket radios, VIN-paired multimedia systems, damaged displays, locked dealer-only units or radios that have already been replaced with a different model.
